Question
Hello,

I've been in the Air Force for the last 11 years as a 2W0 and recently i've gotten word back on my SECRET recert that is was revoked pending an investigation. So I have to do an SOR to rebut it.

The reasoning supplied was because of my poor credit (thanks to my soon to be ex wife) which was also my fault because I should have been more aware and proactive and also because I answered some questions wrong and made it appear as though I was lying. Simply put, I said that I was never 90 days overdue on a payment and not currently over 180 days overdue. Which as wrong. I was but I had been trying to get clarification to a question that was never answered really (from unit security manager). That question was did the question about repossessions trump the smaller infractions? Since my nature of my car being repossessed years earlier it would have been duplicated information. I know NOW that I shouldn't have done that. I had gotten some advice from the "then" security manager that any problems I had would be addressed when they did the investigation. Which they did the PSI with me and didn't really ask about those things. I've filled out three of these SF 86's because the security guy kept dropping the ball for some reason and I would get an email every few months telling me it was due and to accomplish it and I have all three SF 86's with different request numbers and dates to validate that. The current Security manager said it was very poor advice and that the his predecessor has separated and there was a gap in the program so they never had a face to face.

Anyhow, beyond all this, the bad advice and sending it on as it was. I'd like to know the best way to address this. Should I fall on my sword? Should I try to explain this series of unfortunate events to someone that may speculate that it is all just lies? or anything inbetween?

I'm pretty distressed over this and my staff here are under the impression that if my SOR goes and comes back final that I'm out of a career. Though I've looked things up and know I can be retrained and even appeal the decision.

Thanks for your time on this.

Answer
Sounds to me that they revoked it pending an investigation. I dont know if you remember all that paperwork you had to do to get one, but you will be doing it again.

My advise, is since you are or will be going through a divorce, you need to be legally separated. Until you are, you are still responsible for her spending habits. Then you need to get with family and get your bills squared away. once you get a handle  on everything you will be able to maintain it.
