Question
Good afternoon,

I have a few questions regarding the national guard special forces. What MOS involves a medic position? What training does it entail? Which would you rather recommend...a national guard special forces medic or a navy corpsman involved in special operations?

Answer
Navy Corpsman are not involved in special operations per se.  Navy Seals have their own medics and go thru Seal training as well.  The road to spec ops is long and hard.  The average age for spec ops is about 28, and have 3-4 years minimum in the military.  The Army has the largest spec ops.  Only some states have spe ops in their National Guard.  An recruiter may offer you a spec ops option to enlist, but it has a 98% failure rate and you just end up a grunt anyway.  My best bet for spec ops medical is join as a medic (if you qualify)  medic requires really high scores on the asvab, as does Spec ops.  Get assigned to a Infantry unit and deploy, g et the experience under fire.  Strive to get your PA and any other medic training you can get.  When you are ready, (you will know when) try out for spec ops.

Expertise

I am a National Guard recruiter , been doing it for seven years and am a subject matter expert on qualifications for National Guard and I keep up to date on Regular Army regs and programs. I was in the Navy for 4 years and have 13 years in the Guard. I will not sugar coat my answers to you. They are usually short and to the point. If you need more in depth, ask me. Because each situation is different, alot of times you need to actually talk to a recruiter and let them evaluate your situation in person, by looking at your documents, issues etc. If I suggest this, it would be in your best interest to do so. Finally...thank you for your interest in serving this great nation of ours. Very few people can actually make the cut to serve let alone choose to do so. So thank you for wanting to and hopefully you will get a chance. Whatever branch you choose, thank you and good luck.
