Question
Good morning,

I spent 5 active duty years in the Navy; changed over to the Marine Corps and am getting out of the Marine Corps.  I was told by some that I am not considered "A Careerist" and was told by others that I am considered "A Careerist."  My new unit is saying I have to sign a Page 11 since I'm getting out.  This is my first enlistment in the Marine Corps but second enlistment overall.  Do you have any proof you are able to e-mail to prove whether or not I am considered "A Careerist?"  I am considering going to a different branch of the military after this enlistment...will this Page 11 affect my signing up for another branch- in a negative way (if I do have to sign it)?  I know people change branches all the time and I would also like to know (if I am considered "A Careerist") if I would have to sign a Page 11 in the case I did change to the Air Force- then after that enlistment went to a different branch of the military.  Please respond back as soon as possible, as this is a very important matter.  Thank you for your time.

Answer
This is one of those times that all my 22 years experience can not help me help you. I have no Idea what a careerist is.  or what a page 11 is. My advise to you is to call a recruiter from the Navy and ask him or her the hard questions to get your answers. Sorry I couldnt help this time.

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
