Question
hi i was recently contacted by a recruiter and he asked me a couple questions and one of those was have I ever cut before and i answered yes and i do have a few scars on my forearm but nothing major or very noticeable. typically i had no reason for cutting i honestly admit it was peer pressure i was dating a woman 2 years younger then my self and she was cutting because of some family related issues so i made the worst decision of my life and cut myself because i thought maybe it would give her someone to relate too or open up too for i was going through the same thing just not so much mentally. now.... i have not cut for 2-3 years now and i have never been mentally ill or unstable i just want to know what are my chances for qualifying for the marine corps.?

Answer
What did the recruiter say?

Just off the top of my head I'd say you are going to be DQ'd.  However, situations like this depend on the recruiter, the commander of the RS, and how many waivers they've done, and are required on you.   The Marine Corps has constantly 'made mission' over the past year, which means they are extremely reluctant to grant waivers, simply because they do not need to do so.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
