Question
I was discharged in 1994 from the Navy after a month of training. I was given a re-4 I guess like everyone else that washed out of bootcamp. I did not get in trouble I just wanted to go home and it was to easy to do that. My question is in the Army regulation 601-210 it states that if the Army would have considered my discharge a re-3 then it should be considered a re-3 for enlistment and could be wavierable. It looks like most of the Army entry level seperations are re-3. All of the Navy entry level seperations seem to be re-4. How do recruiters look at these regulations and could it be possible for a waiver for Army or National Guard? Thanks

Answer
No Re4 waivers are allowed no matter what the reason.  regulation may say they are, however, other memos have come down that supercede that reg.

Nothing you can do about it besides petetion the military board of records for review and possible change. (re codes are rarely changed in this process)

Expertise

I am a National Guard recruiter , been doing it for seven years and am a subject matter expert on qualifications for National Guard and I keep up to date on Regular Army regs and programs. I was in the Navy for 4 years and have 13 years in the Guard. I will not sugar coat my answers to you. They are usually short and to the point. If you need more in depth, ask me. Because each situation is different, alot of times you need to actually talk to a recruiter and let them evaluate your situation in person, by looking at your documents, issues etc. If I suggest this, it would be in your best interest to do so. Finally...thank you for your interest in serving this great nation of ours. Very few people can actually make the cut to serve let alone choose to do so. So thank you for wanting to and hopefully you will get a chance. Whatever branch you choose, thank you and good luck.
