Question
Hello there, thank you for taking my question.

Proud to say, both of my son's (21,19) are working on joining the USAF. My 21 year old was home schooled, and received his HS Diploma from American School, located in Lansing, IL. My husband thinks this may be viewed as a GED?

Can you tell me if this is a concern or somehow considered less than a traditional HS Diploma?

I appreciate you time, Blanca

Answer
Blanca,

Sorry I couldn't answer sooner, I was off on a no-notice mission.

You are wise to be concerned because sometimes a GED just isn't acceptable.

What your sons have earned is a legitimate high school diploma.
The American School is regionally and nationally accredited
and an American School diploma is widely accepted by colleges and employers, including the military.

I applaud them for sticking with it and graduating, and you for teaching them.  Not many mothers have that patience or dedication.  I am a certified, licensed high school teacher and even I would balk at the thought of having to teach my own kids.  Sometimes it was just nice to send them off to school so I could have some peace and quiet around the house.

I hope they follow through and join the military, it'll do wonders for them.
