Question
Hello! I am writing you in knowing that my fiance doesn't know it, but I have some questions. He has previously served in the Marine Corps. prior to us meeting. Since being out of the service, has made a few mistakes in life and has taken the wrong path.He has had 3 dui's. Since meeting him and being together, he had turned his life around and has become a great man and father. The only thing he now wants back is his life with the Marine Corps. He recently had talked to a recruiter about this, but has gotten no answer from the recruiter about a waiver or being able to re-enlist. I just want to be educated to help him live his dream. Like I had said earlier, he is no longer the young man who doesn't care about anything. He is now a man who wants his life back and for is to make sense again. He believes his life made sense when his was in the Marine Corps. And to be honest, The recruiter didn't really seem interested in helping him find out the information he needs to be successful in this. And his age does give him deadlines, he is 32. Thank you for your time. Terri

Answer
Terri:

At this point, unlikely he'd be able to reenlist, based on the 3 DUI's, that would require a criminal waiver, which they aren't granting very many of at this time.  The Marine Corps is currently at well over 100 percent of it's recruiting goals and has been for about a year or so.    I'd advise him to keep after the recruiter just to see what they say but it's going to be an uphill battle.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
