Question
hello  i was injured during basic at ft Benning and sent to a rehab unit PTRP for 3 months at the end of my rehab i had to take a pt test to return to duty which i fail. it was both my first and last pt test in the military, i was discharged under chapter 13 unsatisfactory performance with a re code of 3. i know i will need a waver to get back in. i never wanted to leave and tried to fight my discharge but received a general discharge under honorable conditions. my question is  1. how long do i have to wait to get back in  and 2.how would i go about getting a waiver.

PS: my injuries were suspected stress fractures but the day after they told me i was getting  kicked out teh  doc  gave me an RTD and told me i had Patellofemoral pain syndrome he said my knee was being pulled off track by my quadriceps which i can fix with certain exercises. anyway i am feeling home sick and dieing to get back finish training and join the fight.

Answer
You need to contact the VA for your records and then petition for an upgrade to your RE code.  With an RE:3 you wont get in at all. The standard wait is 6 months but it will take you longer than that to complete and submit the paperwork and then get an answer. Good luck.

Expertise

I am currently an active duty Army Captain in the Military Police Field. I have been enlisted (Military Intelligence) and attended The United States Military Academy at West Point. I can answer questions related to the Army, posting, jobs, lifestyle, workings... pretty much anything you can throw at me with the exception of very specific recruting or medical questions. I have no expertise in what it takes to get in the military other than the fact that I, myself, joined at one point in time.

Experience

I have experience in both deployed and garrision environments as a Military Police Officer.

Education/Credentials
Bachelor of Science in Arabic and French from United States Military Academy at West Point.
