Question
My son has been in the AF approx 6 yrs he was given a urine test on his last wkend drill (ANG)and the test came back positive. At the time he was taking a perscription for Oxycodone 5-325 20 pills to take as needed given by his Family Doctor for a back injury he recieved at work while working with the ANG as a civilian. He was to deploy but has been told that he will be pulled into the active military on his next wkend and sent to see a JAG lawyer. He doesnt understand why all this is being done sence he was given the perscription by a medical doctor and has only taken the pills perscribed to him. He also has a letter from his Doctor stating the above. I also do not understand this.PS He also was not given a form so that he could write down any Medication he was taking prior to the test they give monthly as they usually do. Is this normal in the military? He has always passed his other urine test.  Thank You for any help

Answer
Frank,
Your son needs to talk to the military attorneys so he can tell his side of it.  They can't just move him to active duty.

I don't know which service he is in, so I'll tell you the most popular ones.  If he's in the
Air Force he'll need to talk to someone in the Area Defense Council.  If he's in the
Navy, it's the Defense Division of the Navy Legal Service Office.  The Army has an office that also serves as the soldier's advocate for legal advice called the Legal Assistance Division of the JAG.

Have him talk to those folks right away.
