My father in law was in the military.  he was given an honorable discharge inb 1951.  his discharge was for a medical reason.  just what is he eligible for he was in for 9 months

Probably nothing,aside from being able to call himself a veteran.  Those discharged for medical reasons with less than one year of service usually get nothing.  You can check with the VA just to make sure.  Their number is 1-877-222-VETS (8387), Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM (Eastern Time).
