Question
John you seem to know your stuff as they say as I have seen through your past answers maybe you can give me some info. Ihave 24yrs of military service 23yrs Navy/ Navy Reserve and my last which I retired from Army Reserve for twenty four years which has all been credited. my problem is my final year with the Army Reserve I was only paid as an E-7 with nine years service the entire year Battle Assemblys ECTS etc tried to get it straightened out with my Unit Administrator while I was active drilling to no avail Iam now retired gray area with retrement with pay next September 2012 any help would be appreciated

Answer
Your best bet is to look at your retirement statement you last received.  It is correct I am sure.

it would have your total points you have for retirement and if you have the second section, it would estimate your pension.

Other than that, I have not worked with any retirement stuff, so I have not had exposure to these issues.  The VA website would be a source I would try to use as well.

Some UA's are worthless, while others rock, but getting paid for 9 years in service when you have 24 is a bit ridiculous and should have been an easy fix with showing of dd214's, orders and other documents

Good luck.

Expertise

I am a National Guard recruiter , been doing it for seven years and am a subject matter expert on qualifications for National Guard and I keep up to date on Regular Army regs and programs. I was in the Navy for 4 years and have 13 years in the Guard. I will not sugar coat my answers to you. They are usually short and to the point. If you need more in depth, ask me. Because each situation is different, alot of times you need to actually talk to a recruiter and let them evaluate your situation in person, by looking at your documents, issues etc. If I suggest this, it would be in your best interest to do so. Finally...thank you for your interest in serving this great nation of ours. Very few people can actually make the cut to serve let alone choose to do so. So thank you for wanting to and hopefully you will get a chance. Whatever branch you choose, thank you and good luck.
