Question
My nephew went into my mother's home without permission and stole a laptop that belonged to me. My Dad had passed away and I had been allowing my Mother to use it. This marine entered her home without her permision and took the laptop. He then took the laptop with him when he deployed to Camp Hansen, Okinawa. This happened over a 2 week period while my Mother was visitng me in another state. I have requested many, many times that he return it. I have demanded that he return it and I have threatened to report him for misconduct. He, in return, sent me a vile and disrepectful message via my wall on Facebook. What are my options? I will not let this drop!

Thank you very much for your response.

Answer
Stephanie:

Did you report this to the local police?  That should be your FIRST option, and realistically, the only one.  If the laptop doesn't belong to him, it's likely felony theft.  Get the serial number as well as all the other pertinent data so the police can enter the stolen computer into the crime computer.   They'll take it from there, and then NCIS will be on him.  That's really your only workable option at this point.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
