Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/Applying to Naval OS or FBI with A MIP ticket

Question
My son and two friends received a MIP ticket last Fall while on their College campus. They were not arrested, just ticketed and fined. He was 20 at the time. Do you think this will strongly effect his chances of being accepted into Naval OCS ?He is now planning on applying Summer 2012. He has also dreamed of joining  the FBI after Naval service. I am afraid he has definitely blown his chances there. I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on all of this so that he can plan accordingly. Thank you very much for your time.

How is a 20 year old considered a minor?  I think he will not have a problem with the Navy if he has just the one.  Yes, he may have screwed himself for the FBI, but try it and see.  A successful Navy career may outweigh the violation.

Tell him to stay clean and he may not have hurt his chances.  Another violation will definitely prevent him from joining.  I'm sure you've already told him that.
