Question
I know you are not a USAF recruiter but I read a thread you posted to another individual asking about the HPSP.

I am 25 years old. I graduated with my BS in 2010 and currently hold a RN license. I gained admission to an MSN-FNP (family nurse practitioner) program at a very well respected medical college. I hold a 3.37 GPA out of nursing school. I am in good physical shape and already passed MEPS and all of the military requirements for comission as an officer. I was just wondering (because I know of the extreme competitive nautre of the program) what my chances were of receiving such a great honor as the HPSP. I am highly motivated and will reapply every chance I get should I be denied or wait listed for any reason. My recruiter seems very hopeful but I would like the opinion of an impartial party such as yourself. There is also nothing on any blog site specific to nurse practitioner HPSP with regards to actual requirements and ways to make yourself even more competitive. I only hope that this will help others interested in joining the United States Military as a NP as well. Thank You for your time!

Answer
The requirements are mainly they choose the best of the pool they have.  the less people apply, the better your chances.  It seems you meet all the moral and physical requirements, it is just up to the officers that choose.  Not all qualified applicants will get it.

I couldn't tell you anything else that would be of help, as long as you are being processed, thru a medical recruiter, you are good to go.  he/she will tell you you if you did not make the cut.

Expertise

I am a National Guard recruiter , been doing it for seven years and am a subject matter expert on qualifications for National Guard and I keep up to date on Regular Army regs and programs. I was in the Navy for 4 years and have 13 years in the Guard. I will not sugar coat my answers to you. They are usually short and to the point. If you need more in depth, ask me. Because each situation is different, alot of times you need to actually talk to a recruiter and let them evaluate your situation in person, by looking at your documents, issues etc. If I suggest this, it would be in your best interest to do so. Finally...thank you for your interest in serving this great nation of ours. Very few people can actually make the cut to serve let alone choose to do so. So thank you for wanting to and hopefully you will get a chance. Whatever branch you choose, thank you and good luck.
