Question
iwas called on 9/11/2011 from her being told she was getting discharged so i called her recruiter and said it may have to do with her dependents as she is only allowed 2. i then talked to her 9/12/2011 after a long battle of trying to find her and was told by her and cpt.of alpha company reception area that she is getting discharged but it will be 1-3mnths before she comes home so i will not here from her for a bit. my question is if she is being discharged and just sitting their why can she not have visits, mail, or her phone or phone access and why 1-3mnths and not 2-3days or 1 week.

Answer
It all depends on the reasons for her discharge.  Some discharges take longer than others to process, depending on the signature level required to affect the discharge. Also, if she's being punished for any reason, she'd generally be required to finish her punishment first.  She should be able to receive mail and phone access is as Basic Training rules allow.

Expertise

I am currently an active duty Army Captain in the Military Police Field. I have been enlisted (Military Intelligence) and attended The United States Military Academy at West Point. I can answer questions related to the Army, posting, jobs, lifestyle, workings... pretty much anything you can throw at me with the exception of very specific recruting or medical questions. I have no expertise in what it takes to get in the military other than the fact that I, myself, joined at one point in time.

Experience

I have experience in both deployed and garrision environments as a Military Police Officer.

Education/Credentials
Bachelor of Science in Arabic and French from United States Military Academy at West Point.
