Question
am i entitled to a pension, i served 11 years in royal navy was medically discharged and for a while got money until i had operation and injury improved. am i entitled to a naval pension. i am now 75 years old

Answer
Gordon,
Sorry for the delay.  I had to track down the address and phone number.

You haven't given me enough information.  What was your age, when were you medically discharged, and what was your highest paid rank held for more than 2 years in the last 5 years of service?  Did your medical discharge stem from a war related disability.  The full career pension can be earned earlier than other schemes (age 55) due to youth and fitness being vital for the job role. Benefits are also payable in the event of illness, injury or death.

This scheme is closed to new entrants.  A new scheme was implemented with effect from April 2005 for new entrants. Current personnel were be given the option to transfer to the new scheme with effect from April 2006.

I kind of doubt it because you must have 22 years to receive 32% of your pay, otherwise if your career was cut short by illness or injury which is no fault of your own, an immediate pension and lump sum are payable.
