Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/taking the asvab test exam

Hello Jason Grabill My name is James, I live in New York, and I have two questions. First I would like to know if there are paper and pencil versions of the asvab test, as I personally prefer to do it on paper and pencil rather than a computer but that's just me. Second of all I would like to know if I am allowed to use a calculator on the asvab test I'm planning to join the USMC, and from what I've heard is that the army and the California Coast Guard do not allow test takers to bring in a calculator but first of all I don't care about the way its done in California because I don't live there, and second of all, I'm not planning to go to the coast guard or the army. My thing is the USMC with all due respect to those serving in the army, navy, air force, and coast guard.

To answer the first, no, I don't believe there are anymore.  You would have to check with a recruiter on that one.  You might also go to your local library and check out a practice ASVAB book to study.  It will also answer your questions, likely better than I could.  Same goes with the calculator, I don't believe they are allowed.  Most of the math is all simple stuff anyway and you really don't need it.  A recruiter can for sure give you the answers to these questions though.  Best of luck!

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
