Question
My son is in Basic now and will be graduating in November, I have an oppertunity to stay in the hotel (Lackland Inn) on base.  Is this advantagous to staying off-base? or do you feel the off-base lodging is better for this week?  Additionally his graduation is the same weekend as the air show with the Thunderbirds will this make the experience better? or just more crowded?

Answer
Hi Ron,

On Base lodging will not be as luxurious as a hotel off base, but it will be more convenient, and probably cheaper.

If Lackland is having their annual open house/air show the same weekend, you can expect the base to be more crowded with visitors.

But, if you've never seen the Thunderbirds perform in person, this will add to the experience.  Nothing can compare.

Hope this helps!
