Question
I'm a TDSP candidate, with a projected graduation date of December 2008 (BS in Computer Engineering). I have 20/200 vision corrected to 20/20, and want to get Lasik or PRK. However, I don't want to lose my chances at a pilot/nav slot. What steps should I take?
Hi Eric,
Currently, the Air Force does not allow aircrew applicants who have had Lasik or PRK. Under a test program, the Air Force is allowing *current* pilots and navigators to have (with approval) Lasik and PRK, but that program has not yet been extended to applicants.
In other words, under the current rules, if your get Lasik or PRK, you will be ineligible to apply for a pilot or nav slot. This may change in the future, but your guess is as good as mine, as to when this will change.
