Question
My son will be completing the enlisted securiy forces training after the first of the year.  as a level 3 trainee, what are the expectations of deployment?  what percentages of these airman are going right to combat areas? or are a good number of these airman doing their OJT on home airbases?  I am not looking for gurantees just reasonable expectations.

Answer
Hi Ron,

Once he graduates from Security Forces Technical School, he will be granted a week (or so) of leave (vacation time), and then proceed to this first duty station.

The chances that he'll deploy anywhere, right away are slim (nonexistent).

It's possible that he could deploy as a 3-level, but it is unlikely (to the extreme) that he would deploy as a brand-new 3-level.

Squadron commanders determine (within their squadrons) who are eligible to deploy, or not, based on the deployment-tasking. While 3-levels sometimes deploy (especially in deployment-heavy-tasked jobs, such as Security Forces), they rarely (and I mean *rarely*) are tasked to deploy, until their commanding officer, flight chief, and supervisor certify them as ready -- that takes several months of OJT training after arrival at the first duty assignment.

Hope this helps!
