Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/Applying for a Base Sticker(pass) with a BCD

Question
Good afternoon Rod, my question is this. I received a BCD from the USMCR in 1992. My current job is going to require me to visit military bases for the purposes of conducting business with civilian contractors performing contract services on the bases. I will need a permanently affixed base sticker on my vehicle and to receive such i will be "sponsored" by my customer, the company performing the on base contract service. Will having a BCD prohibit me from obtaining this? I vaguely remember during my discharge class being told that a Dishonorable Discharge would prevent an individual from obtaining on base employment but nothing about access to a military base for the purpose of conducting business with a government contractor after receiving a BCD. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer
Hi John,

When one receives a sticker for their vehicle, one does not undergo a background check.

As long as you have a "sponsor," minimum insurance required by the state, a proper vehicle registration, and a valid driver's license, that's all that's required.
