Question
My husband is currently in Afghanistan right now and we both want to know what he has to do to go into the Coast Guard? I would like to know where I can get more information on the Coast Guard as well. Greatly appreciate your time.

Answer
Hi Lorena,

He would first have to be discharged from the Army, and then apply (through a Coast Guard Recruiter's Office) to enlist in the Coast Guard as a prior service enlistment. There aren't any provisions for him to "transfer" from the Army to the Coast Guard.

You can get more information about the Coast Guard on my website at: http://usmilitary.about.com

Hope this helps!
