Question
I enlisted in the Army National Guard in November of 2006, after 4 1/2 years in the Reserves.  My contract specified that as an enlistee into the Guard, I would undergo 92G training.  Fortunately for me, I decided not to become a cook and my unit First Sergeant gave me his consent to switch to the primary MOS of the unit, 92W.  It is a year later, and I am still unqualified in either 92G or 92W.  I was wondering if the fact that my unit has not sent me to MOS school yet was any kind of breach of contract.

Answer
Hi Kat,

I'm afraid it's not a "breach of contract" under the regulations. You voluntarily asked to give up your 92G training. Therefore, by not sending you to 92G training, it's not a "breach." Now, it depends on the service, as to whether or not to send you for any additional training school.

I can guarantee that you unit *wants* to send you to 92W MOS school, but -- unfortunately, the National Guard has the lowest priority when it comes to reserving Military training slots.
