Question
Hi,
I reciently joined the army under the MOS 18x. I went to basic and found out that my foot condition (pes cavus) was causing me too much pain and I was denied the abbility to go to Airbourne school which in turn forced me a drop my 18x contract. I am still in constant pain considering that I am an infantry soldior and all. Does my situation fall under the Breach of Guaranteed Job Discharge? and if it doesnt what is the best way to go about getting decient medical help since now I am stationed in Germany and its much harder to find civilian doctors to help me out.

  I appreciate the help,
      Matt

Answer
Hi Matt,

I'm afraid not. Under the 18x option, if you fail to complete training for any reason, you are reverted to 11x. That's in the contract, so it's not a "breach of Guaranteed Job."

As an active duty member, your options for medical care is limited to the on-base medical facility, unless the medical doctors refer you to an off-base specialist.

You can, of course, see a civilian doctor without such a referral, but it will be at your own expense.

Hope this helps!
