Question
hey! i was just wondering if you knew the average salary range for a coast guard reservist?

Answer
Hi Vanessa,

Regardless of service, (whether Coast Guard, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, etc.), military reservists pull duty for one weekend per month, plus two weeks per year, unless they are called to full-time active duty.

Military people receive pay, based on their rank, and their years of military service. You can view Military Basic Pay Charts at: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/2007paycharts/a/2007basicpay.htm

Now, these charts show *monthly* military basic pay. For Guard and Reserve pay, you take the monthly pay rate for the rank and time in service of the individual, and divide it by 30 to get the daily pay.

Members of the National Guard and Reserves are paid four days worth of pay for each drill weekend. In most cases, members of the Guard and Reserve drill for one weekend per month. They are also paid 14 days worth of pay for each two-weeks of annual training.

Of course, during periods when they are recalled to full-time active duty, they receive full pay.

I'll leave the math up to the student <grin>.
