Question
Jason, I spent six years in the Corps and am now in Iraq with the Army.  I want to know if there is a reg. that states if a soldier can wear a marine div. patch on the right shoulder if he has the CAR from the Marine Corps? Thanks

Answer
Hi Richard!

Ok, this is screwed up, but according to army regs, if you were a soldier serving attached to 2nd MarDiv or 1st MarDiv, etc, you rate to wear that divisional units combat patch.  IF, however, you were a Marine serving with that unit at the time, since the Marine Corps doesn't officially use Shoulder sleeve insignia, you don't rate to wear the patch.  I kid you not.

However, this is the way I would do it, I'd wear the Marine patch as a combat patch, esp. if you already have the CAR, and "to hell" with regulations.  The worst thing that can happen is they tell you to take the patch off or something.

Yet another reason why I think the army is jacked up....  :)

Semper Fi & Best Regards,

Jason

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
