Question
I hope you can help.I was on active duty with the US NAVY and took my GED in 1973 .The only documentation I have is from a copy of my service jacket that says I PASSED. Is there away to get a transcript to see if I get get a real diploma from Maryland ? can you send me in the right direction

Answer
Dear Greg --

There are limited number of testing services that administer the GED.  If you know where you were stationed when you took it, you can check with any of the military education centers in that state to determine which testing services they used.

Once you know the testing services possible, write to each of them and see if they have your test scores.  They will usually have them saved on microfiche.  For a fee (about $30) they will send you a copy of your scores.

If you need the GED to go to college, or any other reason, a notarized copy of your service record saying "GED PASSED" should be more than sufficient for high school equivalency.

Please write back if you have any other questions.  Good luck to you.
