For a re-enlistment code on my DD-214's, I have an N/A....why wouldn't I have a number?

It should have a number.
It's quite possible that the copy of the DD Form 214 you have is what is known as a "deleted copy." The deleted copy is meant to show potential employers, who do not necessarily have a right to view Privacy Act information (even though they would like to).

Make sure on the request form (SF 180) that you check the box for "undeleted copy."
