Question
Yes, my question is about calling DSN numbers. I was wondering if I can call my friend overseas with the DSN number he gave me using a calling card on a land line phone?

Answer
Hello --

Unfortunately DSN numbers can only be called by phones that have DSN access.  DSN is a special switching system and a normal public landline call cannot reach it.

Many DSN phones have a traditional international phone number than you can reach via a normal phone switching system.  If he gives you the standard international number, you could call, but it would cost you the international rate for that country.

If you are related to the Soldier, you can call the operator at a military installation near you, and get the morale call phone number.  You call that number and they will switch you through to the DSN network and place the call to the DSN number for you.

Best of luck to you both.
