Question
I have been in the AD/ANG for a total of 10 years.  I have been mobilized for 2 years and during that time I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease.  I know this disease requires a waiver for me to even be able to stay in the ANG.  My question is since I was diagnosed while was mobilized will I be able to file a VA claim for this?  If I am medically separated will I get severance pay?

Answer
Hi,

To find out whether or not you are eligible for VA Disability Compensation, you'll have to make a claim with the VA. You would be eligible, if the VA determined that the disease was as a direct result of your militay service.

I've only done a real quick read on the condition, but -- from what I've read -- I think it's going to be an uphill battle for you to convince the VA that the the disease was caused by, or aggrevated by your service in the military.

Hope this helps!
