Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/Enlisting with a GED

Question
Can you please tell me which branch is more likely to accept someone with a GED?  I talked to a Navy recruiter yesterday and have become very discouraged.  I am asking for my 17 yr old son.

Answer
Hi Milissa,

This is a simple question. By far, the Army is the service that accepts the most GED-holders.

However, I should mention that if an applicant (for any of the branches) gets at least 15 college credits, they are considered on the same enlistment level as high school diploma-holders.

So, if your Son has a GED, and has his heart set on the Navy, all he has to do is get 15 or more college credits, and he will be on the same enlistment/educational level as those who apply with a high school diploma.

Hope this helps!
