Question
I understand the REcodes, I have a RE-4 code, and I have been out for more then three years, thus, I can not file a BSNR, witht he Navy Discharge Review Board. I was kicked out of the Navy with a General Dischrage (under honorable). I have a letter from the people invovled in the situation that prove my innocense, which I have stated all along. Since I got out, I have worked as a Fraud Investigator and have had a normal life, and never ever once in my life been in trouble with the law. I also have a Criminal Justice Degree, and I was kicked out when I was working as a MA (MP) in the Navy. I want to file for a wavier to get in to the Army, what do you think my chances are? I have a RE-4 Navy Discharge Code, I have always wanted to be part of the military, I just got jacked up in a situation that I had no control over, and it took years to get people to come forward and tell the truth.

Answer
Michael,

Sounds like you may have a good case, but the ultimate decision will be left with the ARMY. Since you were discharged under honorable conditions, you may have a good shot at the ARMY getting you in. When you go and talk to the recruter, take everything that you will need to "Enlist" just as you did when you joined the Navy. The fact that you have been working as a fraud investigator and you have a CJD will work for you. The letters that you have will be helpful, but they will only see the RE code.

The Army has the ability to do things to get folks in that most of the other services can not do. I believe that you have bargining position now, go see what they will do for you.

If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do.
