Answer
Hi Alicia,

First of all, he's asking the wrong person. He needs to meet with an active duty Marine Corps Enlisted Recruiter, who can walk him through the steps of processing a "condidtional release," for leaving the Reserves and enlisting onto active duty. Details about this are at: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/guardandreserve/a/reservetransfer.htm

He will require a waiver (see: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/enlstandards_2.htm). But, such waivers are common.

Hope this helps!
