Question
I was wondering about the BAH requirements for the U.S. Coast Guard. Is it necessary to be married in order to get dependent  pay, base housing, etc? Or is it possible to get the same benefits when engaged? Thank you,
          Samantha

Answer
Hi Samantha,

I'm afraid that in order for a Military member (of any branch, including the Coast Guard) to receive on-base family housing or off-base housing allowance at the "with dependent" rate, they must either be married, or have a dependent child. "Fiance's" don't count.

Hope this helps!
