Question
I went down to the M.E.P.S today and now am a DEP to the Marines. I am suppose to leave to bootcamp this August 20th 2007. I had lied about never being arrested and I was arrested 1 week ago for possession of marijuana under 50 grams. I didn't go to jail and was realeased that same night after taking finger prints. I had court and the case was dissmissed because I worked for a detective to get a bigger crime. My recruiter told me not to say anything about it because my case was dismissed and he says it doesn't matter. I passed everything else and am just worried that this can be Fradulent Enlistment and if so what should I do. Is this true?

Answer
Richard:

If you were never officially charged, only arrested, and the case has been dropped, don't sweat it.   Make sure, however, that you have all the paperwork saying the case was dismissed.

That having been said, if you've smoked or done any kind of drugs in the last 30 days you WILL come up "hot" on the urinalysis you get when you get to recruit training.   If you do you will be immediately sent home/discharged.   Something to think about.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
