Question
QUESTION: Hi,
Any chance the Air Force would take me as enlisted as a linguist ? I have a B.A and an M.A and  speak a foreign language listed as one of the languages they need. I have a green card and I am 35 yrs old.

Thanks.

ANSWER: Phillip,

There might be a chance, dince you have a BA and a MA. The Air Force recognizes education. I would talk to the recruiter and see what the scoop is. They will have you talk to the officer accessions branch first because of you education, but its your choice to go enlisted or officer...

QUESTION: Thanks HW,

I would love to go in as an officer - I just assumed that would be pretty difficult to do since I am not yet a citizen but have a green card. This is what the website indicates - I am yet to understand "officer accessions."

Answer
Phillip,

I can tell you all the specifics other than its proceedure to automatically refer you to the Officer accessions branch. These folks talk to people like you who have the education you have. You can be a non citizen  and join, it may be as an enlisted person first. You have a 4 year term if I remember right. Check with recruiting to get current proceedure on your situation.
