Question
I'm in high school right now and my school offers the Marine JROTC program and I was wondering if it would be towards my advantage when enlisting in the Marines if I took it for 4 years. My Dad is in the 75th Ranger Regiment and it has always been my dream to be in the USMC. I want to be in the infantry but eyesight is not the best. It is correctable to better than 20/20 and I was wondering if any corrective eye surgery would disqualify me from enlisting or if I should just continue to wear my prescription glasses.

Yes, it will help you in the Marines, or any other service for that matter. Well worth doing for sure. As long as your eyesight is correctable to 20/20 you won't have an issue. My eyesight wasn't that great and I served as an Infantryman myself. Lasik surgery is best left for later, in my opinion, once you get a bit older.

Did a hitch in the Army reserves as an 11B (Infantryman), 3 years. Finished out my career in the Air National Guard as a BioEnvironmental Engineer MOS 4B3X1, did that for a few years.
