Question
My boyfriend went into the Airforce in March this year. He is now located at Keesler AFB for tech school, but when he gets out we think he'll go to Mountain Home AFB. He doesn't want to go there because he is from VA and I'm located here. If he volunteers to go overseas what are the chances of his assignment place changing? I'm going to marry him if he goes overseas, so my other question is what are some of the benefits we will recieve. I am a junior in college, are there any kinds of funds I can get for being a military wife?

Answer
Hi LaRhonda,

I guess I'm confused.  Does he have an assignment given to him yet?  If he does, changing it will be difficult.  If he already has been given an assignment, volunteering for overseas probably won't make any difference (should have volunteered for overseas before the assignments were generated).

Military spouses are eligible for many benefits.  Instead of me trying to write a book and detailing them all, I recommend you read my article, "What the Recruiter Never Told You" at:  http://usmilitary.about.com/cs/joiningup/a/recruiter.htm

It will give you an overview of the benefits your husband is entitled to, whether married, or not.

Hope this helps!
