Question
Hello. I just saw a National Guard commercial that showed five or six NCOs with swords. I was under the impression that only Marines allowed their enlisted personnel to carry swords. What's the deal?

Hi Anthony,
The Marines is the only service that allows the "run of the mill" NCO to carry a sword in certain uniforms.
However, all of the services have supplemental regulations which allow enlisted members who are member's of the particular service's "honor guard" team to wear swords in their honor guard ceremonial uniform combination.
The commercial you saw was apparently made up of Honor Guard members.
