Question
GETTING MARRIED IN SEPT IM A E-2 IN THE MARINE CORPS JUST WANT TO KNOW CAN I GET HOUSING FOR MY WIFE AND MYSELF WITH MY RANK?

Answer
Brob:

First, I am going to assume you are NOT a Marine yet, since you refer to yourself as an "E-2" instead of "PFC" or Private First Class.  If you ARE on active duty, and no one has ever taught you that, Marines NEVER use army paygrades to refer to themselves, it's always by rank.

Now that that is out of the way, I'd advise AGAINST getting married for numerous reasons, not the least of which is you'll likely be deployed most of the time.  Yes, you are eligible for housing and all that, and will probably get housing eventually depending on where you are stationed, different bases have different waiting periods.  However, that ain't the point.  Don't get married until you are at least a Corporal.  She'll either wait for you or she won't, but regardless, 75 percent of marriages in the Marine Corps fail within the first year, primarily due to deployments and stress of you being away all the time.  If you are on active duty, have a sit down with your squad leader or platoon sergeant, and let them give you the scoop.  Don't take my word for it.  If you aren't yet on AD, then wait until you complete all your training (Recruit, SOI, MOS) and see how things go, but I'd still advise waiting.

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
