Question
Hi, I was just wondering what the usual length of Navy deployments is?  I cant seem to find anything online about lengths of time, but I think I remember hearing someone say its about 6 months.  Is this accurate or does it depend on where they are sent?  My fiance is about to leave for boot camp and will be doing Air Traffic Control if that affects the length of his deployments.  Also, I want to thank you because your ASVAB study guide helped him do really well on his test!

Answer
Hi Mary Ann,

Normal "Peace Time" deployments (on a ship) is about six months.

However, this isn't "peace time." It depends on the type of ship, the mission, the area deployed to, etc. It can run anywhere from the afore-mentioned 6 months to 12 months.

Hope this helps!
