Question
Hi, i had some questions regarding the PEB board process that involves my husband. As of now my husband has been awarded 30% disability for his condition, Minimal change disease. he aquired this while on deployment and now the PEB board has found him unfit to continue service. we have appealed the 30% because we feel he meets the criteria in the 80% tier so we are now awaiting the results. i had some question though about what i need to ask before we sign any papers. i want to make sure we are getting the proper entitlements we deserve and aren't getting screwed basically. we have two kids and he had planned on making his marine core service a career, so this definately has changed things. we have two kids and i want to make sure we are going to be taken care of. can you give me some direction in what question i should be asking or any other advice relating to our situation. if you know someone who could answer these questions, id be happy to call or email them as well. i have asked around but it feels like there isn't anyone who i can turn to to make sure we're doing the right thing.

Answer
Hi Jacquelyn,

I'm afraid there's not a whole lot I can tell you, other than to point you in the direction of my article at: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/theorderlyroom/a/medseparation.htm

If you have a specific question about a specific policy, I'll be glad to do my best to help.
