Question
I've been wanting to join the USMC for years now and have been looking for ways to better prepare myself. But what I really want to know is if there are any ( I have no idea how to say this other than this) Pre-High School Graduate Training camps of some sort that I could go to.  Because I had a friend who was a senior last year who said during his summer break he went to an Army boot camp. I want to know if there is anything like that offered by the USMC.

Also can you tell me any requirements I would need to meet to join the Force Recon?

Answer
Preston:

Once you enlist, you'll be attending poolee functions until you go to recruit training, those will concentrate on helping you prepare for that.  There is no 'pre boot camp' type of thing you can do.  Sounds like your buddy went into the reserves, which sends you to boot camp during your summer break if you are old enough, so you can become a drilling reservist while still in high school.  The Marine Corps doesn't do that as far as I know, though.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
