Question
I am a former Marine who completed my 4 years(honorably) in 2005. Now I'm interested in Enlisting into the WA Air Guard as a TACP with the 116th ASOS. I've been playing phone tag with 3-4 different recruiters for the last week. What is the best way to go about this and what steps are involved in this process? Thanks

Answer
Normally when a recruiter gets a call from someone, this is a lead that needs to be refined. These leads need to be refined as potential accessions with in 5 days. I think the problem is that you are talking to multiple recruiters. Only the recruiter that you talked to that entered you in the system can talk to you. So to find out this information, you would have start with the first guy that you talked to, he is mostlikely the one.

The second thing I would do is gather all the supporting information that you have that you will need to join the WA Air Guard. These documents would be your DD Form 214, birth certificate, drivers license and SSAN card. Remember Since you are nolonger in the service, you would be joining just like you were brand new. You rank and such will be calculated later on in the process.

After you have all this information together, I would first call him and tell him that you would like to meet face to face. ASK for the appointment. Keep a log of each day you asked and requested this to happen. He should let you know of a time that he can meet with you. If you cannot get him to meet with you , you can call the customer service line at the Air Guard home page and make a formal complaint.

I Hope that this information will help you out. I know that sometimes the Guard recruiters are busy and have a greater area to cover. Be patient, but move forward with each step. If you have any other questions or need other help, please feel free to contact me again.

If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do.
