Question
Hi, my name is Irma Cisneros.  I recently graduated from University of Texas at Brownsville with a B.S. in Biology.  I currently am a full time employee of Dr. Micheal Lehker and work in Biomedical Engineering.  I am trying to look into the different kinds of options that I have for my future.  I definitely know that I want to pursue a Ph.D in Molecular Microbiology or Virology.  One of my concerns is the amount of money that I would have to borrow on top of the loans that I already have.  I also am hoping to work n a government job in the future, I would love to work with bioterrorism agents.  I know that possessing a government job would be easier with a military background, but I would want to become an officer.  I really do not know much, if anything about the military and I  want to know more.  Can you help me at all?

Answer
Hi Irma,

I'm sorry, but there's really no specific question here that I can answer. My best advice is that you begin to educate yourself about the U.S. Military, and that topic is just too broad to be addressed in a single email.

I recommend you visit my U.S. Military Information site at: http://usmilitary.about.com There you will find a wealth of information about joining the U.S. Military, whether as an officer or enlisted member.

Here are a couple of articles to get you started:

http://usmilitary.about.com/cs/generalinfo/a/military101.htm

http://usmilitary.about.com/od/armytrng/a/ocs.htm

Hope this helps!
