Question
Hello Mr Powers,

I have asked you questions before, and you have been very helpful, I appreciate it. About 6 months ago, I went to the recruiter, took the asvab and got a 77. MEPS wouldn't let me ship until I turned 18, because I was 17, a GED holder, and not a senior. I am 18 now, and would like to join. However, the thing holding me back, is that the recruiter asked that I lie on all the paerwork for medical. He actually did all the paper work " for me". I have been to the dr for back pain and a fast heart rate. The back pain was just a pulled muscle. The fast heart rate was too much coffee and stress. he also put down that I do not have a Dr. I am in good condition, and my Dr. is willing to fill out any waivers needed. Is there a way I can be deleted from the system so that all of that lying is not retreiveable? I want to start fresh, I cannot tell a lie. I would, however, like to keep my scores.

Answer
Hi Seth,

Unless you've actually processed through MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station), you're not "in the system."

Your ASVAB scores are valid for two years from the date of your ASVAB test.

I agree with your decision not to lie.  I've seen too many people who got in trouble for this.  For details, see my article at: http://usmilitary.about.com/cs/joiningup/a/falsestatements.htm
