Question
I understand it's a crap shoot trying to reenlist with a RE-3P. I would have to release my VA compensation to get into MEPS so I could get a consultation to see if I am fit for active duty. Then get a waiver approved. If all that gets denied is there a way to get my VA compensation back or is it gone for good?
Hi Casey,
The law prohibits receiving military compensation and VA disability compensation at the same time.
If you sign a waiver for your VA compensation (which is required for enlistment), you would not lose it, unless/until you go onto active duty.
