Question
Im a MA3 in the navy and i want to switch over from shore to sea duty. What do I need to do to make this happen and how long do I have to be at my present command before I can switch over.

You need to contact your detailer, and let them know you are a volunteer for Sea Duty. It's pretty much as simple as that.
Generally, one must be at a (CONUS) command for a minimum of 12 months before they can be reassigned, but it also depends on other factors, such as whether or not you have a "controlled tour," and whether or not you are on your first or subsequent enlistment period.
