Question
I went to the recruiting place,an interesting day.
They had the marines recruiter there, but also the navy recruiter across the hall from it.I accidently walked into the navy, asking for the marines and he first pointed out where they were then stopped me for a second and was asking "Why the marines...why infantry" I explained then he gave me alot of information then had me take a test.I passed it but he said if I got my GED,I would be considered "Teir2" also I'm currently enrolled home schooling which I do on the computer(Been doing it for like 4 years)he said even if I graduated from that I would still be considered "tier 2"
So after that I went into the marines office and they told me the same thing, the only real concern was my lung which I had surgery on
Now since doing school work on the computer is so easy I can  do 2 years of it in 1,I plan on doing it like that and finishing my last year in a regular high school, will that be acceptable,if I do it like that will I be considered tier 1

also about my lung they said I had to see some doctor, will this doctor just assume I can't do anything or test me because I do mixed martial arts, which does boxing, grappling, muay thai, and regular sparring and im able to keep up with most people and out do others when it comes to stamina and I never have any breathing problems or chest pains, also I can run the trail at a park just fine which is a few miles long, sorry this is so long but it's bothering me

Answer
Robert:

Yes, Tier two is correct for anything other than a HS diploma from an accreddited school.  No matter how good your grades, etc., are, it's still 'Tier 2'.  You might be able to get a waiver, but the recruiter will know for sure.

I knew you would have to see a doctor, no, he's not going to assume you can't do anything, he'll give you a battery of tests, to include lung capacity.  The capacity test will be the 'make or break' test that you'll have to pass.  If you can't pass that one, it doesn't matter how well you do or what you do otherwise, you more than likely won't be able to enlist.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
