Question
Hi, I was just wondering if a person with Bilateral Club feet is disqualified from the Navy. I have had numerous surgery's to correct this as best as possible and I am able to run, and do everything a normal person can.

Thank you,
Todd

Answer
Hi Todd,

Club feet (for any of the services) is only disqualifying if the "stiffness or deformity prevents foot function or wearing military footwear."

For details, see my article about Military Medical Standards for Accession," at: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/intmedstandards.htm most especially the section about "lower extremities" at: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/extremities2.htm

With that being said, if the MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) medical professionals determine that your particular condition is disqualifying, then a waiver by the Navy could be possible. For details see my article at: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/medicalwaiver.htm

Hope this helps!
